    found the right one.

I found a copy of rasapi32.dll ... 147,456 bytes on an old laptop.
ive copied it to floppy, and to my desktop.

I am now going to put it on to the problem machine.
i will re-name the existing one, then put this one on.

    So far so good ...

    John :)

    i have re-named Rasapi32.dll to Rasapi32-dll.old
and i have inserted the replacement Rasapi32.dll to System.

    No.

    Rundll32
This program has performed an illegal operation
    and will be shut down.

If the problem persists, contact the program
    vendor.

    Well,
in an effort to find out what files are called up with
dial up networking, i'm going to put process viewer on
    to see what i need.

Unless anyone can advise me in any way ... ?

Then i may be able to replace the files needed for
    dial up networking.

    any ideas ?

    Well i ran process viewer,
and the dial up networking box didnt bring up any more.

But the 'Make New Connection' brought up RNAAPP.EXE and TAPIEXE,
yes thats TAPIEXE with no dot.

So i'm going to look at them now.
Unless anyone has a better idea ??

I wish i knew what i am doin'

    John :)

ive made a copy of RNAAPP.EXE and of TAPIEXE.

i intend to rename the existing ones on the problem PC,
and put these in their place.

then i will keep my fingers crossed and hope.

I think i have successfully operated the extract facility in 95.
I'm not sure because it didnt finish with 'done'
it just scrolled up some cab files,
    then returned me to C:\windows\system
    which is where i started.
I did this in a DoS window,

    start, programs, dos prompt.
The DoS window put me at C:\WINDOWS>_
so i moved along to system by typing CD SYSTEM
    Which put me at C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM>_
    then i typed:
    extract /a C:\WINDOWS\options\cabs\win95_16.cab rnaapp.exe

It then asked "overwrite Y/N" i chose yes,

It took a while, clicking and buzzing,
then it scrolled up a few cabfiles, and put me back at
    C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM>_

So i think it did it.

But the problem has not gone yet.

    Cheers, John :)

I think your issues are probably bigger than missing a couple of files. :)

I was thinking of doing an over-install.
it has the cabs on board,
but i'm not sure what other problems are likely to crop up
if i try to do that.

    any idea ?

    Well,
i have put that Zip221 program on to the problem PC, by putting
the hard drive into the other laptop, and using the good A drive.

I am hoping that this cable connection program will work,
even though the DCC provided with Win95a is not working.

So i will be setting it up following the instructions provided.

    Be back soon, John :)
