About four days ago my system started to freeze up every two seconds. When looking at Performance monitor there are 20% CPU hits every second. The graph looks like a mountain range! Needless to say there is NOTHING showing in the task manager when the hits occur. The mouse tracking is effected as is every thing else. I have run Ad-Aware, AVG, MSAntispy, and SpyBot 1.4. CCleaner was also run on the system. All drivers and firmware/BIOS are up to date. The motherboard is Asus p4c800-e with 2GB Mushkin 2-3-2 memory. No virus were found, but two occurences of medium risk spyware were quarantined. The intermittent freezes do not occur in any particular time. Though I notice it the most when there is nothing running on the system. HiJack this has the below to report. If any you on this site can save me from 20 hours of reloading software by reformatting I promise I will DONATE to this site! You have my word.

Hi b08Maz,

Congratulations !!! That's the biggest hijack list I've
ever seen !!

You might want to immediately kill the "computer enhancers"

O2 - BHO: CoTGT_BHO Class - {C333CF63-767F-4831-94AC-E683D962C63C} - (no file) (Kill it)

Kill these:

--------------

If you're using AVG now, instead of McAfee - kill McAfee.

That's just a start. You can actually do without a great deal of
that stuff. Also, go into "msconfig" "start menu" and kill everything
you don't need.

I'm a firm believer in keeping it simple. Check the explaination in HiJack.
Highlight a file and hit info at the bottom. Kill those that are
suspicious.

Thanks Bonzie I will try the above. Hey I strive towards being the best at all I do - didn't even have to try the list!

I wish I could say the above helped. I have tried running a bare minimum with msconfig. It would be nice if I knew what was taking up the thread timing, but as I mentioned before nothing shows up. I am starting to wonder if this was caused by the lastest MS Update. The only other thing I have done is update the video drivers to Forceware 77.72. Registry mechanic has been run as well and found no large errors.
No Mal-ware, Spyware or virus - just the WindBLows XP Professional a beta program never fixed. Adobe applications though are not the problem.

b08maz,

But the Adobe stuff isn't needed, either.

Did you recently "upgrade" to MS Service Pak 2 ?

No it has been on the system since installation.
No the adobe items are not needed and they also are not being used now.
I take it there are no solutions to the problem other than the Adobe items?

...killing everyone and your a GOD.

I have noticed that explorer stops responding during this lag period - which is going on right now.
