Something has taken over my computer. This virus closed my Zone Alarm firewall and AVG Anti Virus programs and I am unable to get them on again! I'm unable to run a HijackThis or run Malewarebytes programs either. The only way I can get online, is via shortcuts in my favorites menu, which I opened from a documents folder.

When this first happened, an "XP Total Security" window kept opening , and doing a scan for viruses at every reboot. Then it would prompt me to a website, to buy a program to fix it.

I was unable to run msconfig to uncheck it at start-up. I am unable to open the add/remove page in the control panel.

My computer is a 2005 HP Pavilion zv6000 series laptop, running XP.

I also tried System Restore, which I tried to run from Safe Mode, but it would not go back to before the problem.

I am unable to run any .exe programs at all.

I tried to Format the drive, but it would not let me do it.

I need this computer to find a job. I wish I could get a new computer one, but I just don't have the money.

    PLEASE HELP!

I forgot to mention that this virus disabled my web browsers too. It won't let me open them.

The problem is not solved. I think I mislabled the subject and was unable to change it, so I made a new thread.
