Hey all boys and girls!

First post! :D

Now to my question/problem...

I have just bought a laptop from Fujitsu Siemens.
Its a model Amilo M 3438G and it runns with:

Pentium M 2.0 Gz
2 GB worth of RAM
Nvidia 6800 256 MB Go
Integrated wireless 802.11b/g

Windows Home Edition SP2
Norman Virus Control 5.81 (just updated)

Router is:
D-Link DI-624+

For more spec just ask me....

I have a problem with my wireless speed...

My signal strength is max when ever I am inside my house.....
But the speed gets as low as 2 Mbit/s!!!!

My brother has a laptop and it runns just fine with the WLAN and he can play intenet games, surf and everything else with out problems....

We live far away from anyone else so it cannot be that someone is stealling my connection...

There are people with a simmilar problem:
http://forums.speedguide.net/archive/index.php/t-184349.html
And it happens to quite manny so there has to be some sort off solution...

My friend told me it might be a firewall issue....
Can that be it and what do I do to get rid off it...?

Any help is greatly appreciated...

Thanx

Hyper, you can count me as one having the same problem. I have gone through a D-Link DI-514, a DI-524, and now a brand new Linksys WRT54G. They all do the same thing. Sometimes it runs 48-54mb for hours, and other times it drops to 2mb within minutes of starting the computer.
Stumped.

Since your brother's works fine on the same WLAN, the router is probably OK. If you and your brother switch places and his still works fine and yours slows, then it's not some type of wireless interference.

Update your wireless adapter's driver if you don't have the latest. Try uninstalling the adapter, restart the computer, reinstall the adapter.

Still no luck? Make sure you know your router's configuration, update the firmware if there is an update. Also try resetting the router to factory settings, and then reconfigure it.

Oh, and it's not likely a firewall issue. Firewalls usually block or don't block. But, you can always disable yours to check so that we needn't guess.
