    Hi there,

I'd like some help regarding fixing a hard drive error. I've got Dell Inspiron 6400 with 34x Windows XP and, unfortunately, it gor infected. I've scanned the laptop in safe mode and removed the viruses with AVG and Avira, and the laptop was working again. After about 1 month, it just didn't start anymore and gave me an error message saying that my SYSTEM file is corrupted and I could try to repair it from a Windows CD. I've taken out the CD that came with my laptop about 7 years ago when I bought it and trid to run the repair, but nothing happened. So, I've booted Ubuntu from a CD on my laptop and scanned windows using Clam antivirus. It detected 2 viruses and I've deleted them. However, my laptop still doesn't want to start up. I've run diagnostics and it came up with an error of hard drive, error code 1000-0146. This is where I am stuck... I tried looking online how to fix it, but all of the solutions require Windows running, which I don't have. May be I could fix it from Ubuntu? Any idea would be greatly appreciated!

    Many thanks,
    T
