I have a laptop computer with XP on it and a desktop with Vista on it. I've been trying for days to figure out how to set up a network between the two without success. Please help if you can. Thanks.

The easiest way is to get a broadband router. With that you can also conveniently "share" a broadband internet connection.

Other ways include connecting them directly with an ethernet cable (which must be a cross-over cable unless one port is auto-sensing) or via an ad-hoc wireless connection.

If you tell us what networking adapters are on each PC and what your intended use of a network is maybe we could suggest the most convenient way for you.
