hello there. i have followed the instructions from another thread when i noticed that raze spyware takes over my background image. I ran ewido, RunThis.bat, and the active scan. The background hijacking is gone, but i still get little Windows notices in the bottom right that says my computer is infected. Included in this post is the pre-everything hijackThis log, the ewido log, and the post-everything hijack this log. I wasn't able to save a log from active scan. PLEASE HELP!!!

    Welcome to TSG :)

    Download Win32delfkil.exe: http://users.telenet.be/marcvn/tools/win32delfkil.exe
    Save it on your desktop.
Double click on win32delfkil.exe and install it.
This creates a new folder on your desktop: win32delfkil
Close all windows, open the win32delfkil folder and double click on fix.bat.

    The computer will reboot automatically.
After the reboot, the infection should be killed.

Reboot and post a fresh Hijack This log.

    Download KillBox here: http://www.downloads.subratam.org/KillBox.exe
    Save it to your desktop.
    DO NOT run it yet.

    Rescan with Hijack This.
Close all browser windows except Hijack This.
Put a check mark beside these entries and click "Fix Checked".

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Win32.Exploit.mzH] C:\WINDOWS\System32\mzrun.exe

    O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Windows installer] C:\winstall.exe

    Boot into Safe Mode.

    * Double-click on Killbox.exe to run it.

Put a tick by Standard File Kill.
In the "Full Path of File to Delete" box, copy and paste each of the following lines one at a time:

    C:\WINDOWS\System32\winapi32.dll
    C:\WINDOWS\System32\MTC.dll
    C:\Program Files\Viewpoint
    C:\WINDOWS\System32\links.exe
    C:\WINDOWS\System32\xxxdialer.exe
    C:\WINDOWS\System32\private.exe
    C:\WINDOWS\System32\netstat2.exe
    C:\WINDOWS\System32\mzrun.exe
    C:\winstall.exe

Click on the button that has the red circle with the X in the middle after you enter each file.
It will ask for confirmation to delete the file.
    Click Yes.
Continue with that procedure until you have pasted all of these in the "Paste Full Path of File to Delete" box.
Killbox may tell you that one or more files do not exist.
If that happens, just continue on with all the files. Be sure you don't miss any.
Next in Killbox go to Tools > Delete Temp Files
In the window that pops up, put a check by ALL the options there except these three:
    XP Prefetch
    Recent
    History
Now click the Delete Selected Temp Files button.
    Exit the Killbox.

Finally go to Control Panel > Internet Options.
On the General tab under "Temporary Internet Files" Click "Delete Files".
Put a check by "Delete Offline Content" and click OK.
Click on the Programs tab then click the "Reset Web Settings" button.
    Click Apply then OK.

    Empty the Recycle Bin.

    Reboot, post a new log.

    :) Fix this entry again:

    R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://www.makemesearch.com/?said=422

    Reboot.

    *Download Cleanup from Here
    • A window will open and choose SAVE, then DESKTOP as the destination.
    • On your Desktop, click on Cleanup40.exe icon.
    • Then, click RUN and place a checkmark beside "I Agree"
    • Then click NEXT followed by START and OK.
    • A window will appear with many choices, keep all the defaults as set when the Slide Bar to the left is set to Standard Quality.
    • Click OK
    • DO NOT RUN IT YET

    Boot into Safe Mode.

    * Run Cleanup:
    • Click on the "Cleanup" button and let it run.
    • Once its done, close the program.

    Reboot.

Let us know how things are running.

    Log looks clean. (y)

    Download Luna.zip: http://castlecops.com/zx/flrman1/luna.zip

Download it and unzip it to extract the luna.msstyles file it contains.
Copy the luna.msstyles file to the C:\WINDOWS\Resources\Themes\Luna folder.

Restart your machine and go to Display Properties and you should be able to
    choose the XP theme again.

    You're welcome :)

    Now turn off System Restore:

On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
    Click Properties.
    Click the System Restore tab.
    Check Turn off System Restore.
Click Apply, and then click OK.

    Restart your computer.

Turn System Restore back on and create a restore point.

    To create a restore point:

Single-click Start and point to All Programs.
Mouse over Accessories, then System Tools, and select System Restore.
In the System Restore wizard, select the box next the text labeled "Create a restore point" and click the Next button.
Type a description for your new restore point. Something like "After trojan/spyware cleanup". Click Create and you're done.

You can mark your thread "Solved" from the Thread Tools drop down menu.
