Please help with Windows ME!!!

    Due to a virus I was forced to delete some files. Now every time I restart my computer I get two error messages.
    Error loading C:\WINDOWS\NEWDOT~2DLL
    and
    Error loading load.exe

    please help me

    Moving to security forum, think you will get better responses there.


    quite possible load.exe is from the virus. Newdot is spyware

    !- the load.exe error is a remnant of the Nimda worm:

    To eliminate it, from start, run system.ini and look for line which begins: shell=explorer.exe

    It will probably look like: Shell = explorer.exe load.exe -dontrunold

    You want to edit it so that it reads only:

    shell=explorer.exe

    with nothing after it. Do that, close the file and save the changes when prompted

    2-- the newdotnet error is a result of "foistware".

    If you do not find it in Add/Remove, or it doesn't remove properly, you should go to their site and reinstall it and then try again to remove it from Add/Remove
