Please help with Windows ME!!!

    Due to a virus I was forced to delete some files. Now every time I restart my computer I get two error messages.
    Error loading C:\WINDOWS\NEWDOT~2DLL
    and
    Error loading load.exe

    please help me

    Hi Kieran,and welcome to TSG.Newdotnet is spyware.Lets have a look at your startup programs and i'll explain how to get rid of it.Go to Start>Run>type in Msinfo32>click ok.click on the + sign next to software environment>click on startup programs>click edit>select all>click edit>copy then paste the page back here

    goto start<>run<>type in regrdit<>goto tools find<>enter the name NEWDOT<>delete all refernces to newdot

    should get rid of it

    And load.exe is a feature of the Nimda worm:

    There is a fixtool on the symantec site you should run. But an updated full antivirus scan is called for as well. You can get one here:

    http://housecall.antivirus.com/pc_housecall/

    A good antivirus program should have repaired the system.ini line which calls load.exe. If that continues after further cleaning, go to start and run system.ini. Look for the shell= line and edit it to read ONLY:

    shell=explorer.exe

    close the file and save when prompted.
