I have an HP NC6230 with Windows xp sp2. I needed to reformat the machine, and being that I did not have a recovery cd, I was going to use an XP CD. Upon finishing the full format from the XP cd, I recieved an error stating that \windows\inf\biosinfo.inf is missing or corrupt. It will not let me passed there. I can not boot into safe mode as the error appears before that option. I have tried formatting 3 times, twice with an HP XP Service Pack 2 cd and once with a SP1 cd, every time recieving the same errors. Please help!

You are Formating and not just making another instance of the OS?
Do you do a full format or a quick?
And have you deleted any of the Partititions and then format this partition?
It just seems weird that error and the fix that Microsoft says is this.

Other than this I have no other things to tell ya.
Hopefully someone else would have something to suggest.
