Please recommend Firewall

    can someone recommend a great firewall program that does not slow down your CPU. Thanks

    I'd recommend ZoneAlarm, used it for awhile now........

    I agree that ZA is great for a freebie, and so is Sygate. What I've found as a repairman is this; for whatever reason, Sygate seems to work "best" on 98/ME computers, and Zone Alarm works best on XP. By "best", I mean I've had some problems installing ZA on 98 comps and Sygate on XP. Another odd note; Sygate is the only one that supports 2000; ZA doesn't (or at least the versions I've tried). That said, the versions I'd recommend are 3.7.211 for ZA and 5.5 for Sygate. Those versions have been relatively problem-free for me and my customers. Hope this helps.

    Personal opinion ... ZA is the easiest for someone non-techie to use, Sygate is not as easy to install, but has more features.

    I run ZA Plus (not free) on my main computer, but Sygate Personal (free) on the other two test machines.
