I am having a problem when I plug my headphones in (I have interrnal speakers) it shuts the computer off. I'm wondering if anyone has ever heard of this happening. My guess is that there may be a short but I'd like to hear any other ideas.

Tried different headphones? Have the latest sound card drivers? List some system specs too. Including, of course, your sound card. :p Also, is this into a CD drive, or the main audio out?

Yes the drivers are all up to date. I have internal speakers which plug into the speaker out on the sound card. There is a headphone jack on the front of the speakers.
