Hi, The log does not show any malware.

Have you scanned with anything else in the last day or so, any logs you could post?

You have an older version of a program that has changed ownership- Ewido 4.0 is now called AVG Antispyware and Grisoft is now handling it.

We can point you to the download and instructions, but we need to know if you are using a paid for version of Ewido, you may not want to lose that if it is.

You also may be using AVG 7.1 it has changed recently to 7.5 and we can also help with getting that.

Some scans with these updated may show us something.

Right.....
I would get the downloads for each, before uninstalling anything.

Install the new and update, then scan with them.

You must uninstall previous versions to use the newer, in both cases.

AVG Antispyware (former Ewido) is installed and set up this way, and you scan in Safe Mode, at least the first time....

Download AVG Anti-Spyware from HERE and save that file to your desktop.

When the trial period expires it becomes feature-limited freeware but is still worth keeping as a good on-demand scanner.

  1. Once you have downloaded AVG Anti-Spyware, locate the icon on the desktop and double click it to launch the set up program.
  2. Once the setup is complete you will need run AVG Anti-Spyware and update the definition files.
  3. On the main screen select the icon "Update" then select the "Update now" link.
    • Next select the "Start Update" button. The update will start and a progress bar will show the updates being installed.
  4. Once the update has completed, select the "Scanner" icon at the top of the screen, then select the "Settings" tab.
  5. Note: If you cannot access the internet with the infected PC, or you are having problems updating, you can download the signatures file from here.
Once you have installed AVG A-S, double click avgas-signatures-full-current.exe to update it.
  6. Once in the Settings screen click on "Recommended actions" and then select "Quarantine".
  7. Under "Reports"
    • Select "Automatically generate report after every scan"
    • Un-Select "Only if threats were found"
    • Disabling the Resident Shield: (This may have changed in a new build but check for it).

By default the Resident Shield is active but as it may interfere with the process of cleaning your PC, it will need to be disabled.
(When the PC has been cleaned you can activate the shield again, if you wish.)
Click the Shield icon at the top and under "Resident shield is..." - click active.
This should now change to inactive.
Close AVG Anti-Spyware. Do Not run a scan just yet, we will run it in safe mode.

  1. _ _ _ _ _
  2. Reboot your computer into Safe Mode. You can do this by restarting your computer and continually tapping the F8 key until a menu appears. Use your up arrow key to highlight Safe Mode then hit enter.

IMPORTANT: Do not open any other windows or programs while AVG Anti-Spyware is scanning as it may interfere with the scanning process:
  3. Launch AVG Anti-Spyware by double clicking the icon on your desktop.
  4. Select the "Scanner" icon at the top and then the "Scan" tab then click on "Complete System Scan".
  5. AVG will now begin the scanning process. Please be patient as this may take a little time.
Once the scan is complete, do the following:
  6. If you have any infections you will be prompted. Then select "Apply all actions."
  7. Next select the "Reports" icon at the top.
  8. Select the "Save report as" button in the lower left- hand of the screen and save it to a text file on your system (make sure to remember where you saved that file. This is important).
  9. Close AVG Anti-Spyware and reboot your system back into Normal Mode.

For AVG 7.5 Antivirus, the installation is much the same as you are used to, and self explanatory.

Post the Antispyware log if it finds anything.

AVGFree 7.1 should be updated to 7.5. If I remember correctly, 7.1 dies by the end of Jan..

That's exactly what I posted. Yes-? We are having a conversation here...it's not in just the last two posts.

Hi, The report is mostly cookies which are fairly normal, however this file was found, and disinfected:

C:\Documents and Settings\Shanker\My Documents\download\lilflip206\MadHack_(for Madden NFL 07 v1.0).exe -> Trojan.Delf.bcg : Cleaned.

Make sure it is deleted, navigate to that location in Windows Explorer, and look at the contents of the \My Documents\download\lilflip206 folder and see the the file that was found is gone. Quit downloading Hacks, Cracks etc they are usually malware!

OK, that was AVG Antipsyware, now you should scan with the newer version of AVG Antivirus if you got that installed and see if it finds anything, which I doubt, but how else will we know?

A finishing up scan at Panda might be good to do, too, it is great for showing the file locations on your computer though it will not disinfect or clean out spy or adware...just viruses etc.

HERE to run Panda's ActiveScan
  • Once you are on the Panda site click the Scan your PC button
  • A new window will open...click the Check Now button
  • Enter your Country
  • Enter your State/Province
  • Enter your e-mail address and click send
  • Select either Home User or Company
  • Click the big Scan Now button
  • If it wants to install an ActiveX component allow it
  • It will start downloading the files it requires for the scan (Note: It may take a couple of minutes)
  • When download is complete, click on My Computer to start the scan
  • When the scan completes, if anything malicious is detected, click the See Report button, then Save Report and save it to a convenient location. Post the contents of the ActiveScan report

If it finds anything post the activescan.txt contents in your reply please!

SpyBot Search and Destroy is very good with Delfin malware- I don't think you have SpyBot S & D

*Download Spybot S&D and install it.

http://www.majorgeeks.com/SpyBot-Search_&_Destroy_Tools_d2471.html

The above is all you need to download, it has a built in web update feature.

Run Spybot and allow it to create a backup of your registry when prompted.
Do NOT elect the use of Tea Timer you have more than enough protective software now...
You DO want to use SDHelper for Internet Explorer.
Click on "Search for Updates". Choose the TDS (US) server using the little black drop down arrow next to the
server name, you can select various, in the US the TDS works well...
If any updates are found, place a check mark next to each one.
Click on "Download Updates".
Click on "Immunize" [When it detects what has or has not been blocked, block all remaining items].
Do this by clicking the green plus sign next to immunize at the top.
Click on "Check for Problems" and if any problems are found, click on "Fix Selected Problems".
Reboot your computer. SpyBot saves backups of all that is removed and they are restorable.
_ _ _ _ _ _ _

Also here is a fine temp file cleanup tool, free, that we reccommend, though there are others and you mght have one it did not look like you do from the AVG log!

Download ATFCleaner

by Atribune & save it to your desktop. DO NOT use it yet. We will use it in Safe Mode, later

As you probably know, deleting Cookies can result in you having to type in your username and passwords at ALL sites that use logins, like this site does, so if you willy nilly delete cookies, which is safe enough to do, you will have to re-establish these cookies and login the first time you visit any site like that.

ATF Cleaner has a way to save those cookies you would like to keep but it will require some time. If you DO KNOW or have saved all your passwords etc you are good to go to delete all Cookies.

* Restart your computer into safe mode now.To get into the Windows 2000 / XP Safe mode, as the computer is booting press and hold your "F8 Key" which should bring up the "Windows Advanced Options Menu"
Use your arrow keys to move to "Safe Mode" and press your Enter key.

Next, start up ATFCleaner:

  • Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
    Under Main choose: Select All
    Click the Empty Selected button.
If you use Firefox browser
  • Click Firefox at the top and choose: Select All
    Click the Empty Selected button.
NOTE: If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click No at the prompt.
If you use Opera browser
  • Click Opera at the top and choose: Select All
    Click the Empty Selected button.
NOTE: If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click No at the prompt.
Click Exit on the Main menu to close the program.

Hi, did you do anything with the other info I posted, AVG, or SpyBot, and if so did you scan, can you post anything if it found stuff?

Any scan depends on several things

1. Speed of your computer
2. Your Internet connection type and speed

3. The amount of files the hard drive has, the condition the hard drive is in.

4. How busy the server you are connected to is at the time.
You might have better luck later in the evening.

Try to do as little as possible during the scan.....on the the computer I mean, don't like take a nap...

If you use a dialup connection you just have to wait.

If it is broadband, you should be just about done. Average is 20 minutes to an hour. If there is malware slowing you down or other hardware /software problems, then it can cause slowdowns.

You have a lot of files! Average home user with XP I see have from 100,00 to 175,000.

It;s not strictly a number amount , it's the size they all add up to. Music, movies, pictures etc as well as installed software can really add up.

This long a time does not sound normal so I am pretty sure either your Net connection or the amount of gigs of space you have as "Used" in Drive Properties is the cause.

No one would use, nor would we recommend, any scan that took a very long time.

We see people who post here in forums that have a scan take all night....
