I'm sure I could go looking around and I'd find the answer, but I thought it might be helpful to see how others are working with the PMs

How many Inbound PMs is the limit before you have reached the capacity of a full In box and you need to start deleting before you can receive any more?

Does the total number of saved outbound PMs have any bearing on the total overall number of messages before you can receive any more?

Just a note here... I find that it is best for me to send a new PM as a reply to and inbound PM than to reply to the inbound PM because it never fails that 1000 characters gets used up pretty fast.
Is anyone else here notice this?

Also I'm not sure that messages "in" or "out" need to be deleted at some point to make room in order to receive more PMs......Is there another option available here?

    Hey DS, :)

I think the 1000 char limit applies to all PMs.
What eats it up on a reply is the quote that's
included. I usually cut out part (or all) of the
    quote if necessary.

I have no idea about the other stuff...

    Cheers, Mac

Here's the PM section of the FAQ:

    http://forums.techguy.org/misc.php?action=faq&page=2#pm

Here's one paragraph that may apply:

You will need to periodically delete old messages, as the administrator has probably set a limit to the number of private messages you can have in your folders. If you excede the number of messages specified by the administrator, you will not be able to send or receive new messages until you delete some old messages.

Hmmm... I wonder if you get a notification or
a warning when you reach the PM limit?

I received one via e-mail into OE that a PM was sent but could not be delivered ........that I needed to delete some PMs to make room.

I don't know if the sender receives one or not, and I don't recall if after I deleted some PMs if I ever received the mystery PM or not.
    hmmmmm

The maximum is 70 saved messages. I don't really know what it does after that...

Thanx Mike, I guess that 70 is in reference to "in" or received messages only........correct?

Is there a limit as to "out" or sent messages?

All I know is that 70 is the, "Maximum number of saved messages a user can have."

So, I think that would be the total of both...

I just changed it to 150, though... maybe that'll help you guys out a little.
