Hello All
I have hundreds of PNG files that before changing to W10 always showed as PNG files(Icon) now they just show as a blank area with the name of the file underneath. Is there a way to get the PNG icon back and showing?

Not sure about getting it back, but you can replace it.

Download FileTypesMan: http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/file_types_manager.html

Locate your preferred png icon online. You need it in .ico format. If it isn't, you can use Convertico: https://convertico.com

Extract the folder of FileTypesMan and start the program. Locate the default png file icon by clicking on the search icon or just by browsing downwards. Double click on that, which should open a "Edit File Type" window. In the line with "Default Icon" you can open up your icon file which you downloaded earlier. Click Ok, then you're done and should see the icon on your png files.

OR Right-click on any .png file > Properties > General tab > Change button and select Windows Photo Viewer > OK
That should make .png files show the same icon as in Windows 7.

Hello GinnyP & managed

Thanks for your replies, I took the easy option of changing them to Windows Photo Viewer.
