In response to someone asking for a thread to post poems and short stories.I hereby start one with a tribute to my dog Tina .....

I ONLY WANTED YOU

They say memories are golden
well maybe that is true
I never wanted memories,
I only wanted you.

A million times I needed you,
a million times I cried.
If love alone could have saved you
you never would have died.

In life I loved you dearly,
In death I love you still.
In my heart you hold a place
no one could ever fill.

If tears could build a stairway
and heartache make a lane,
I'd walk the path to heaven
and bring you back again.

Our family chain is broken,
and nothing seems the same.
But as God calls us one by one,
the chain will link again.

I love the one in my signature, it's one of my favorites.

"If only, if only," the woodpecker sighs,
"The bark on this tree were as soft as the skies."
While the wolf waits below, hungry and lonely,
Crying out to the moon, "If only, if only."
"If only, if only." The moon speaks no reply
Reflecting the sun and all that's gone by.
Be strong, my weary wolf, turn around boldly.
Fly high, my baby bird, my angel, my only.

~Emily Dickinson

Posting it here for future reference if my signature changes.

Hey thanks for the start up!
I wrote this for my bf

The Rose
I wrote this for my husband when we first met.

This rose is for the love I feel for you
It's for you being you
This rose is for me to be able to show you I care
It's for you being there
This rose is for the twinkle in my eye
It's for the warmth I feel inside
This rose is to show you, you mean more to me
It's for you to see
That the love is so strong inside
Don't deny it, I can see it in your eyes
I feel so close
What do you expect
That's the power of the rose

This one my husband wrote. It is one of my fav's of his. Also one of his saddest.

Little Girl Dressed in White
The coffin is open and ready
for the little girl dressed in white
that was killed by her daddy
Her life was so short and now its gone
The little girl dressed in white didn't live very long
All she wanted was love, but got none
The little girl dressed in white tried
but couldnt run
She never knew about happiness or joy
All the love she got was a room full of broken toys
She was beaten black and blue
Thats all we know about
It's all we ever knew
The coffin is shut and sealed
The little girl dressed in white
can never be healed

Wow, o.0. The first one brightened my mind and then the second dropped a stone on my
head. It's amazing the power of words. I wrote a song about a little girl who was born
with the wrong size heart, and her last days were waiting for a transplant. Eliza..

The words are very sad! Great work. Was that you singing in the background? It makes me think of hippies sitting in a circle talking of peace. Very 60 sounding. Great job!

Thank you. My opinion is, we should celebrate every day...They truly are limited...
