I am SOOO pissed off at the popup (advertising annoying smileys every 5 minutes) AHHHHHH!

The popups that I ran into before could be removed with pestpatrol, Ad-aware, spysweeper, spysubtract, cwshredder etc. But this one just sticks around. I haven't been able to delete popuppers64 from hijack this and I read some of the other posts and the process of removing them wasn't very understandable. So I am posting my HJTlog and reading more forums to see if I can figure something out. I know from what I read that I have to delete O15 - Trusted Zone: *.media-motor.net and
    O15 - Trusted Zone: *.popuppers.com

but I am unclear about the process.

Also my IE is running slower probably because of these pests. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks for your patience.

Hi flrman...the scan hasn't changed at all. Also since this thing has taken control I get a lot of "Page not found" errors that I have to push enter again to find the page. Why is that? I can follow step by step directions but I don't know what I am doing wrong. I have just done what other people had done in posts. Thanks for the help

Launch the application, and click the "I know what I'm doing" checkbox.

Check all instances of ua_lsp.dll (and nothing else) , and move them to the "Remove" pane.
    Then click Finish.

Run Hijack This again and put a check by these. Close ALL windows except HijackThis and click "Fix checked"

    Restart to safe mode.

How to start your computer in safe mode

Because XP will not always show you hidden files and folders by default, Go to Start > Search and under "More advanced search options".
Make sure there is a check by "Search System Folders" and "Search hidden files and folders" and "Search system subfolders"

Next click on My Computer. Go to Tools > Folder Options. Click on the View tab and make sure that "Show hidden files and folders" is checked. Also uncheck "Hide protected operating system files" and "Hide extensions for known file types" . Now click "Apply to all folders"
    Click "Apply" then "OK"

Now find and delete these files:

    C:\WINDOWS\a64sddd.exe
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\prutpct.exe
    c:\windows\system32\ua_lsp.dll

Also in safe mode navigate to the C:\Windows\Temp folder. Open the Temp folder and go to Edit > Select All then Edit > Delete to delete the entire contents of the Temp folder.

Go to Start > Run and type %temp% in the Run box. The Temp folder will open. Click Edit > Select All then Edit > Delete to delete the entire contents of the Temp folder.

Finally go to Control Panel > Internet Options. On the General tab under "Temporary Internet Files" Click "Delete Files". Put a check by "Delete Offline Content" and click OK. Click on the Programs tab then click the "Reset Web Settings" button. Click Apply then OK.

    Empty the Recycle Bin

Boot back to Windows normally now.

    Download DelDomains.inf from here:

    http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/DelDomains.inf

    Rightclick DelDomains.inf and choose install.

Reboot and post another log please.

I followed your directions. prutpct seems to be here still. Also in my temp folders I could not delete ~DF74F1 and ~DF7830. I don't know if it has to do with something not being removed. If there is any way to remove anything else let me know but Thank you for your help :) . the prutpct is/has been using a lot of my CPU. Last time I ran task mgr I had 15% idle CPU usage, and now it is down to 3-4% MUUCH better :) (y) You kick ***!

Also I heard that I should not use IE anymore because of these problems. I started using IE because I heard it was "better" but maybe I will go back to Netscape or use Mozilla.
