Hi:
For some unknown reason, my new Dell computer has thrown me for a loop with popups. I don't do anything, don't right click, just go about things normally and the tool tips and other popups, sometimes 2 at a time, take over. It seems to happen across software programs, Word 365, gmail -- it just happened now, with 2 popups randomly appearing as I tried to type this.
In Word 365, I have the tooltips turned off but they appear anyway.
Hoping someone can help me with this.
Many thanks,
Jane

On the search bar type in msconfig and press enter then select startup and click on open task manager and disable all unnecessary things you don't need. When done just click on apply and ok.

Hi Ramon,
Many thanks for this suggestion. Unfortunately, it didn't help the situation. So -- still unresolved.
Do appreciate your taking the time.

Actually, I mis-spoke. I don't use Chrome at all on this computer.
Also, suddenly my cursor has gone all wobbly and won't let me use it. I have to hit the escape button several times to regain use. and I can no longer select a word or phrase. i get popups instead. And scrolling is out, too. The popups block that.
Yikes, this is becoming serious.

I have never used brave browser. Maybe when you installed it you might have added something by mistake. Not sure if uninstalling it and reinstalling it may solve your problem but at least you can try it. You may also want to clear your history browser too.

Hi again, Ramon:

Actually, I'm having fewer popups on Brave than anywhere else in my system. Did try cleaning the history and checked my apps again just to make sure nothing had sneaked in. The problem now seems to be intermittent -- no popups while typing this, for example.

If things don't improve, I'll bite the bullet and call Dell. The computer's brand new and under warranty.

Many thanks for trying so persistently to help. I do appreciate it.

If you can't solve your problem by trying everything possible the last thing to do is to reinstall your OS. Make sure you backup anything you have in your computer. Check your computer manual on how to restore your computer completely. You will need to reinstall all your programs you had plus updates.

Getting popups is not a reason to reinstall the operating system. You can ask for help at the Malware Removal Forum and there, we can clean your computer. If it's fine with you, I'll ask for the topic's removal in that Forum.
