hi, In Add/Remove programs, uninstall MessengerPlus3, it comes with some added attractions that are giving you some of the malware showing in your log...you can reinstall it fresh, afterward, and pick NOT to install the full version, with extras then.

Also in Add/Remove, uninstall: DeskAdService
or, DeskAd anything....

Mediamotor

SurfSidekick

Create a New Folder, right on the desktop will do>>>Right click on any empty spot of the desktop, select New> Folder and type in what you would like to call it, I often just call it HJT...now, download a new copy of hijackthis.exe here:

www.radiosplace.com

When the File Download box comes up, change the Save In location to the location of the folder you made, Decktop\HJT or whatever, make sure the file goes to that folder and run hijackthis.exe from there, next scan.

You can simply forget about the old copy, it will disappear with your temp files at some point after you run scans and are fixing what is left to do.

To get started> scan online at both of these places:

http://www.pandasoftware.com/activescan/com/activescan_principal.htm

http://housecall.antivirus.com/housecall/start_corp.asp

If you have never used them, both of those scans will take a while to get the Active X controls loaded and then scan all files....I would estimate a good 2 hours and have seen it take quite a lot longer. Not much you can do...

Set the settings to scan all files, Scan the whole computer, all hard drives...whatever each has. AUTOCLEAN should be checked, too. You don't get to scan unless you let the ActiveX control load, that is what gets tiring, but it should finish> it does seem to stop but you should wait and scan!
Panda will let you save a Report as Activescan.txt when it finishes, which you should post here in your next reply. Housecall only shows you what it found, cleaned, could not fix, or deleted....so, do Panda first and Housecall next to keep the manual filename recording to a minimum, but we should have you post the filenames it found infected, the locations of files, and what the exact trojan name is for each.

_________

You will need both of these programs, and these versions...though you might have both, one or the other may be older than what I am posting and will not be as effective as they can be! You need to check the Build of AdAware you have, it's right on the main window, we are using AdAware SE personal edition (the free one) v. 1.05 now, and even though you are just installing it, it will have some detection updates just after you install it, unless you get very lucky!

SpyBot Search and Destroy v. 1.3> is the latest. The older versions are abandoned and will not give you any more updates!

Both of those programs are available here:

http://www.majorgeeks.com/downloads31.html

Here are the directions for installing, updating, and using them:
AdAware:

Install the program and launch it.

First in the main window look in the bottom right corner and click on Check for updates now then click Connect and download the latest reference files.

From main window :Click Start then under Select a scan Mode tick Perform full system scan.

Next deselect Search for negligible risk entries.

Now to scan just click the Next button.

When the scan is finished mark everything for removal and get rid of it.(Right-click the window and choose select all from the drop down menu and click Next)

Restart your computer.

SpyBot 1.3:

Install the program and launch it.

Before scanning press Online and Search for Updates .

Put a check mark at and install all updates.

Click Check for Problems and when the scan is finished let Spybot fix/remove all it finds marked in RED.

Restart your computer.

Post a new log after you have done all the scans, got the programs and updated and run them following the directions.

Hiya....What do you mean by this?
i have norton antivirus

You are infected with several trojans, which Norton cannot deal with....

Please scan at those two sites if you want further help.

And, post the Activescan.txt log from Panda.

Hi, Did you scan at the Panda site, I asked you to post the Activescan.txt contents....it was an option at the end of the Panda online scan, to save the Report...please copy and paste the entire contents of Activescan.txt if you saved it.

Do you AdAware SE personal edition v. 1.05 installed? Make sure it is 1.05- on the main screen for AdAware it will say Build 1.05....check for updates to it and download the detection updates.

If you do not have AdAware, get it, you need it!

http://www.majorgeeks.com/downloads31.html

Here are the directions for installing, updating, and using them:
AdAware:

Install the program and launch it.

First in the main window look in the bottom right corner and click on Check for updates now then click Connect and download the latest reference files.

From main window :Click Start then under Select a scan Mode tick Perform full system scan.

Next deselect Search for negligible risk entries.

Now to scan just click the Next button.

When the scan is finished mark everything for removal and get rid of it.(Right-click the window and choose select all from the drop down menu and click Next)

Restart your computer.

When you restart- do so to Safe Mode, see below:

______________

You will have to do this work in Safe Mode...the Internet and this thread will not be available to you from Safe Mode, so print this out, or copy and paste it to a Notepad file and save it on the desktop.

In Safe Mode: All Internet Explorer windows closed.

Run Hijackthis.exe again, put checks next to each of these, when you have them all, click "Fix checked"

Because XP will not always show you hidden files and folders by default, Go to Start > Search>Files and Folders>> and under "More advanced search options".
Make sure there is a check by "Search System Folders" and "Search hidden files and folders" and "Search system subfolders"

Next click on My Computer. Go to Tools > Folder Options. Click on the View tab and make sure that "Show hidden files and folders" is checked. Also uncheck "Hide protected operating system files" and "Hide extensions for known file types" . Now click "Apply to all folders"
Click "Apply" then "OK"
Now, navigate in Windows Explorer, to the files shown at the end of the lines below, and delete them: Not all will be found, but look well for them> delete:

C:\WINDOWS\Downloaded Program Files\ipreg32.dll <files

C:\Program Files\Messenger Plus! 3\MsgPlus.exe
C:\Program Files\DeskAd Service\DeskAdServ.exe

C:\Documents and Settings\Administrater\Application Data\SysDown\sys02404.exe

C:\WINDOWS\mmups.exe

C:\Program Files\AdStatus Service\AdStatServ.exe

C:\WINDOWS\mm15201518.Stub.exe

C:\WINDOWS\suploads.exe

c:\windows\system32\loxrgd.exe

Now, delete the folders:

C:\Program Files\AdStatus Service <folders, at the ends
C:\Program Files\DeskAd Service
C:\Program Files\Messenger Plus! 3
C:\Documents and Settings\Administrater\Application Data\SysDown

Also in safe mode navigate to the C:\Windows\Temp folder. Open the Temp folder and go to Edit > Select All then Edit > Delete to delete the entire contents of the Temp folder.

Go to Start > Run and type %temp% in the Run box, and OK. The Temp folder will open. Click Edit > Select All then File > Delete to delete the entire contents of the Temp folder.
Finally go to Control Panel > Internet Options. On the General tab under "Temporary Internet Files" Click "Delete Files". Put a check by "Delete Offline Content" and click OK.

Restart the computer. Run a new scan with Spybot and restart.....run a full scan with AdAware, yes, again because now it should find some other things...

Restart again. Run Hijackthis in normal mode, and post a new Hijackthis log. The Panda log also if you have it.

hi pengu.....Yes the signature in my replies is from the red line "My Signature Links" on down, and is just for people to go check out...not for you each time, to do anything....

When you have done all that I put in my last reply, post the new hijackthis log and a Panda Report, OK?

Are you having trouble understanding anything I posted?

hi pengu I am not sure what that RAR file is from Zone Alarm, it may be false positive...I am not sure.

Listen> I see the same things in your log that I asked you to do back a few replies...like uninstall MessengerPlus3, DeskAdService, and some other things from Add/Remove Programs , and fix many items with Hijackthis...have you done those things? They should not come back. What I meant for you to do, is do all of the steps, starting with the Panda scan, installing AdAware and SpyBot, and the fixing with Hijackthis....and finding the files and folders and deleting them. There should be a lot less in your HJT log.

As it says> you have to be in Safe Mode when you do the work> so you cannot see this thread....and you have to copy the text to a Notepad file, and save it to your desktop to see while you are fixing things. DO NOT try using Hijackthis while you are here or "online" (on the Internet with browser windows open) you want to be IN Safe Mode, with no Internet Explorer or other browser windows open when you do the steps or it will not work...

Please try it all again, not the Panda scan but all the rest...if you have downloaded and installed what I told you to, and are ready, just run through the procedure again.

Hi pengu---
You don't want to do just part of the directions- SpyBot will not remove the things that you have.

If there is nothing in Add/Remove Programs like I have in my reply with the main set of directions> ( they are in post #2 and #8 up above in the thread) continue with the other steps. Since you have told me now, that you elected to not get all the crap such as LOP, you can skip the MessengerPlus removal- don't uninstall that, and do NOT fix the items in Hijackthis since you are keeping the program....

DeskAdService or similar usually shows in Add/Remove,

and Mediamotor does sometimes, just check for the entries there and try uninstalling those I listed. Doing that will not work completely, so the remaining lines that refer to them will have to be fixed using Hijackthis, and then manual file deleting.

What you have to do, is follow the direction step by step, fixing things with Hijackthis when you Scan- you actually have to check items that are in my directions, then click "Fix checked" at the bottom of hijackthis window...to remove those specific lines.

Are you saying that DeskAdService does not appear when you scan in Safe Mode? Or that other items don't?

Then, I have directions to show hidden files, delete temp files, and to find the files on your hard drive that must also be manually deleted, and probably some folders that must be deleted.

If you don't see a certain line entry in Hijack log when you scan to remove items, just fix the ones that are there.

If you fix items, and the Registry items, with Hijackthis, they should not come back in your next log...

Find and delete the files I list and folders. You must have "show hidden files" enabled, as it says, to see them.
Then, I have steps to restart, run scans with AdAware and SpyBot, to clean up.
