My moms computer is dead right now. She turned on the computer after attempting to boot up gives this error message

If i insert a recovery disk it gives this error message

you can hear the hard drive spin up then it goes click click then whines down. it does this over and over. i removed and reconnected the HD same error messages.

computer is a compaq presario sr1738nx(we both have the same computer i just rebuilt mine with gaming in mind) the hard drive is a Western digital 200GB and was made in 2005.

Yes it does sound that the Hard drive has gone faulty........can you try it on another PC as a secondary drive and see if it gets recognized
