Could someone please give me a step x step on how to post a P/S in this forum.

When I save a P/s to My Doc, it is normally saved as a .doc extension and i cannot save it as a JPEG.

I am going to try attaching one I have saved as txt

That didn't show for me, or rather there was nothing in the document.
You could use THIS to capture bits or the whole of your screen, it's small and very easy to use.

OK, first of all, when doing PrintScreen, what are you doing??

Sounds like you are opening Word up and pasting the screen capture there, and of course saving it as a doc.

What you should do is paste it in Paint, or IrfanView and save it as an image.

After attaching the image and clicking on Submit, you would right-click the attachment and choose (Copy Shortcut) and then Edit your post and insert tags with the shortcut you just copied in between the tags.

    Voila

I never thought of copying right into IV, have done it now, have saved as Jpeg, is that ok as it is listed as being accepted in attachment.

Not sure about the edit bit, thought I could just paste but will try now.

Have done all you said(I think) but after attaching successfully(I think) why do the last part(edit/copy s/cut)

I see RandyG is offline so do you mind if I step in? Great thanks.

    POST AN IMAGE IN TSG

    1. Start a new post or reply to an existing post.
    2. Just above the submit button you will see the attach file section. Click the choose button and navigate to the location on your hard drive where you have the gif or jpeg file you want to post. Highlight the file and click open, then submit your post.
    3. At the botton of the post you just submitted, you will see the word attachment, followed by a link with the name of the gif or jpeg file you selscted in the previous step. Click on the link and it will open a separate window showing just youe image. Highlight the complete address in the address field of your browser and hit ctrl-c on your keyboard. This will copy the address to the clipboard. Close the window to take you back to your post.
    4. On the top right of your post, you will see four links, (report\ quote\ edit\ (#6). Click edit.
    5. Add the following line to your original post....bracket img bracket Your URL here bracket /img bracket you copied from step 3 here"> and click the save changes button to resubmit your post.
    6. Your image should now be displayed.

    bracket=[]

I could not open your link but thanks anyway.

It looks as though I may have solved posting attachments now anyway thanks to Randy.

What I was trying to post was a P/S of my Highjack profile which I have just opened for the first time.

I was/am posting the P/S for anyone who knows the proggie or can comment/advise on my profile.

    gudda96 -

Not sure if you're aware, but you also have the ability to save the HiJack info as a text doc for posting the results in forums such as this one. You can use the Save Log feature, then save it where you want.

Could you excuse my ignorance and run that by me again please.

Did anyone open my attachment and have any comments about Hijack?

At the bottom left of your image you see the Save Log button??

In HijackThis, click it, and then post the contents of that log file here for anyone to help you with.

The problem with the image is that it will not show everything.

Since we have solved this particular question about how to save a screen capture, perhaps you could start a new thread to get assistance for the Hijack log. the folks who know more bout how to interpret that program hang out in the Security and Internet section. Also, they wouldn't necessarily check this thread out to find your Hijack info.

    Good luck.
