The port into which the recharging cable plugs into my ASUS laptop seems to be wearing out - about 70 % of the time an external power source is not detected and some wiggling of the cable is required. The problem seems to have gotten worse lately. The computer screen's started flashing on and off as it momentarily connects and then loses connection with the power source. Would having this port fixed/replaced be cost-effective, or is it time to look for a new laptop?

It depends on the cost to repair it, the age of the laptop, VS the price of replacing the laptop. It is possible that the damaged power port could cause more damage to the motherboard ending up costing much more to repair.
