I want to fit a new hard drive and was wondering if my pc could take it. i hav already fitted it with more memory (768MB total) and a usb 2 card. on my power supply it says 220W max (im in the uk and i think its different in america and other countries)

any1 know how i could tell if my comp could take it?

220W is a little small. Whether you are in UK or USA watts are watts. Volts X Amps = Watts. Your input voltage is different in the UK; output to the drives, mb, etc is the same.
If you buy a new ps, make sure it is a quality unit. Stay away from the $25 400W ps. Quality brands are Enlight, Antec, Enermax, Enlight, Sparkle.

i would double check to make sure you don't mean 220v. if you are looking at the voltage, the little red switch that can be changed from 110v to 220v, that is not the p/s wattage. typically, power supplies do not come in 220w.
power supplies die all the time if they are too weak. to ensure you will not have any power supply problems, i would recommend getting one no less than 350w.
