Power Supply question

Hello,

Trying to diagnose a computer problem.

The computer does not boot up. It starts, and all fans are spinning, and the HD ( I tried 2 hard drives actually) seems to be spinning.

I am wondering if the PS is failing?

If the PS is done, will you get ANY power at all, or will you press the on button, and get no juice?

Also, there is no burning or "heat" smell coming from the PS.

If it is not the PS, my next guess is the MOBO, but I am not really sure how to test if a MOBO is pooched.

Thanks in advance.

Does not exactly sound like the PSU, but its remotely possible.

When the unit is powered up, there is a Power_OK line from the PSU that indicates all is well. If that does not send a signal to the motherboard within about 0.5 seconds of powering up, the CPU will not reset and allow the boot to proceed.

So it could be the PSU or the motherboard or the CPU or ... (1,723 other things).
