I have had powerline adapters set up for quite a few months now, but only recently have started to have this problem. I have my powerline adapter set up like this, router > adapter, adapter > access point, access point > PC. All connected via CAT 6 ethernet cables, however i have noticed a considerable drop in connection speeds in the past week or so and have no idea why. The data light on the powerline adapter mainly stays orange (medium transfer speeds), occasionally flickers green and often stays red.
    My questions are:
    1) Can having too many things plugged in in my room affect the performance?
    2) The data light tends to go green if my pc is turned off, i have checked for malware extensively, even fresh installed my machine just to be sure. I have noticed that the light goes green if i turn the monitor off, could my monitor be limiting the network?
    3) Could it be a fault with my powerline adapters, IE should i spend money on some new ones and risk still having the problem?
Any suggestions are welcome, i'm not sure what to try.

It maybe an issue on the mains of the monitor - can you confirm that really is changing the adapter LED
maybe try a different socket if possible for the monitor
