A friend has sent me a pps file (as an attachment) but when I open it all I get is a still picture.

It is supposed to contain a song and I assume that the picture is supposed to be animated.

He has sent it to me twice, but both times the same thing happens.... NOTHING (n) :(

Although I haven't received any pps files lately, the last ones I did get worked fine.

Any ideas what might be going wrong?
Is it something on my computer or maybe his??

    A simple isea.

As you most probably know, .pps is a powerpoint file. Is powerpoint still there on the computer? Have you checked that .pps is still assigned to powerpoint?

I cannot see it being on your end as the attachment is there with the extension intact and it will at least open.

The only other thing thing that I can think of is if you try to save the file first with the 'save attachment' in the attachment drop down, NOT 'save' in the file folder. Then see if it will open properly.

Apart from that, it ha sme a little perplexed too.

Sorry I cannot be of more help.

    Hi again deepdiver01 :)

I have tried saving the "attatched file" but still no luck.

Maybe I'll have to check my friends comp. and see if something has changed with his settings.
Although, because it WILL open but not PLAY, on my end I find it hard to think it is any settings on his comp.

    Thanks for trying :)

Maybe someone else has some ideas??

I just tried the link that you gave and once I found the PowerPoint 97/2000/2002 Viewer and clicked on it I got a page that said:
    The page cannot be found
The page you are looking for might have been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable.

Any idea where else I can get PpView.exe??

Sorry to hear that. Wonder why with all the viewers it does not work.
Do you have other PP files on your PC that you can look at to see if ones you know worked still work?

    Hello again :)

I sent the "pps" file to a friend, who makes his own pps files, to see if he could tell me what was/is wrong.

He told me that "even though the file is a pps file, the content inside is actually a 'Flash' file."

He suggested that I "Download a 'Flash' file viewer"

I did a google search for "flash viewer" and am currentley d/ling Adobe Flash Player 9, hopefully it will do the trick.

I d/led and installed the Adobe Flash Player 9, BUT I don't know how to open the file with this
When I click on "open with" it's not mentioned, and when I click on browse I'm not sure what I am meant to select.
