A friend switched cases , (moved hard drives, mobo, and cdr to new case), and now, after it posts and sees all the drives, it just gives him the "Press any key to reboot" message. Any ideas?

    run the repair option
boot from the xp cd and choose install
when the first repair option comes up continue with install
when windows finds the previous installation then repair
you will have to reload the video drivers and any ms updates i.e. sp1

If all you did was move everything to a new case, I doubt the need for a repair install. If you swaped any components, then yes you might need a repair install.

Go back and recheck all connections, cables, molex power leads, hsf, case leads, etc. If you still have the problem after doing this, pull the mb and inspect the mounting for any misaligned standoffs.
