In XP, I've disabled the notification bubbles that pop up when a print job is sent to a network printer. I was wondering if this could be taken a step further by getting rid of the printer icon in the system tray as well? I know you can hide items via the customize option in taskbar and start menu properties, but is there a registry key that can be changed so that the fix will be easier to deploy via group policy?

If you actually want to do this there is something similar that you can do and it is like hidding icons

Right click taskbar on right side of the bar just underneath the icons and look for customize icons which you left click on and then you can click the drop down boxes and chose from several options.
