Recently, my printer (Epson XP4100) stopped taking orders via the "print" command. I cannot print documents, emails, etc., unless I take a screenshot of them and then print that. So, actually, I'm not sure that this is a hardward issue, because the printer can still print out a page with ink on it, but just refuses the command to do so from the "File", "Print" commands (or the print command in word). I hope that someone can help me, because my screenshots are very amateur and rarely fit the page when I print them out. Thank you in advance.
This is a very strange issue. Can you confirm what exactly happens if you go to File > Print?
Note: In Office programs, any file that you didn't create (so downloaded files) will be opened in Read Only mode and you are not able to print until you choose Enable Printing.
No worries! We have seen this around but haven't pinpointed the cause. This site has some information that may shed some light, but I would first power down the printer, then delete the printer and reinstall the printer driver. This link is a direct link to the Epson software, and it was released in April 2021.
I'll try that. I did make sure that all updates for both firmware and drivers had been done (which they had), and did power off and on, but had hoped to avoid a full re-install of everything. I will read your link and start from scratch if I can't find any help there. Thank you for all of your help. It is much-appreciated.
I just removed and re-installed the printer, and there has been improvement. It now will take print orders, but only prints some lines and not others. Leaves almost half of the documents blank and in a random order. Any other ideas?
Explain what you mean by random order. Does it rearrange the contents of the "document to be printed"
Again, does it print correctly and entirely if you choose to print a screenshot? I ask because this would indicate it is not a problem with the printer (clogged nozzles) but some software problem.
Printing some lines while skipping others can be a sign of a clogged nozzle.

Yes, that is why I posited a suspicion that it might not be a hardware issue in my original post. No, it doesn't rearrange the order, just prints out some lines and not others. And yes, it prints out a screenshot, but (only) sometimes, some of that printout has a few blurry sections (which to me, points back to a hardware issue).
So it could be both a hardware and a software issues. Well try hardware first.
First check and see if the printhead is the problem
If it is, it will take you to the cleaning stage for your Epson XP4100.
