Please can anyone help, I have changed the colour cartridge on my Lexmark p6350 printer, but a message on the screen keeps telling me the colour cartridge is missing. I have taken both black and colour out and cleaned the cartridges and trays, and returned them to the printer, disconnected and reconnected usb and power cables, restarted my computer but no good. It reconises the black but not the colour. Any help would be most appreciated.

I had this problem on an HP recently. I found the circuitry in the color cartridge slot was damaged. A wire clip that helped hold the cartridge in place had slipped and dug into the printed circuit.

    Bad design.

Source/age of the cartridges? Many printers now have chips embedded in the cartridges and part of what's on the chip is either an expiration date or a manufacturing date (same difference-if it's a manufacturing date the printer simply adds a certain amount of time to determine the expiration date). When a cartridge passes its expiration date it stops working-sometimes the printer software will tell you the cartridge is expired, other times it'll just refuse to recognize that it's installed.
