Printers vs Word problem

at home we have like 4 computers. There is only one desktop that isn't wireless connected to the network. My printer (dell color laser 3110cn PCL6) is connected to that desktop. My pc is wireless connected to the network. When i had xp it all worked fine to connect to the printer, it also automaticly intalled the printer driver and i could print.
recently i upgraded my pc from xp to vista. I can also connect to the printer, install the driver and the printer works. But when i start Word(office 2007 professional) it doesn't work anymore. When i uninstall the printer, word works fine again...
But is a really stupid problem because now i can't print my word files!
my mother just bought a new laptop, also with vista home premium 32 bit and she has the same problem!
pls help me, i tried everything in know...
