I have an employee who is trying to print to a network print and when you check the status it just states that it is waiting. Tried to have him print to 2 other printers on the network with the same results. Even uninstalled and reinstalled the printer. Anyone got any ideas?????

Thanks

Ok, if other people can print, this means that your server is running fine, and that you should look for the problem on one PC only.

First thing to do would be to check the network connections. Can you access the network from the PC ? Have you tried pinging the print server ? What was the result ?

Secondly, check if the print job arrives on the print server. If you check the print queue, do you see the job you launched on the client pc ? You can see the print queue by selecting start/settings/printers and the shared network printer

Thirdly, make sure the printer isn't in "pause" mode on the client PC. Again, goto start/settings/printers and click the shared network printer. In the "Printer" menu, you will see a "Pause printing" option. Make sure it is not checked

Is it possible there's something with the user's account preventing them from being printed? What if you log on to that same pc - can you print?

how is your network set up?

NT server and client?
or just client to client?

was he able to print before?
if not, if this is a new user, please check the sercurity on the printer, make sure he/she have the previllage to print the document.

Hey guys! Thanks for all your help. Got the guy up and running this morning. Not sure exactly what the problem was. He could log on and print from another pc. Had someone else log into his pc and they were able to print with no problems. Then had him log back into his pc and he was able to print fine. So, I have no idea what the problem was.
Again...thanks for all your help.
