Hey! I have this problem that has occured. Due to me! Lol. Cant always blame the computer!
I have been getting help with a trojan problem and seen something which I thought was a virus and deleted it and found after having done that, the dvd cdrw wont work under my computer the icon is completely gone!
The icon I deleted looked like a block and it had a shortcut symbol on top of the picture of maybe a drive. I cant remember where this was?sorry.
I have tried some things. For eg one of your solved cases on same/similar computer type. Which mine is toshiba satellite A10 laptop and Matshita UJDA750 drive dvd cdrw. I tried this
'...2. In the Open box, type regedit, and then click OK.
    3. Locate and then click the following registry subkey:
    4. On the File menu, click Export.
    5. In the File name box, type savedkey, and then click Save.
    6. Click the REG_MULTI_SZ data type UpperFilters, and then click Delete on the Edit menu. When you are prompted to confirm the deletion, click Yes.

Note If this data type is missing, go to Method 2.
    7. Click the REG_MULTI_SZ data type LowerFilters, and then click Delete on the Edit menu. When you are prompted to confirm the deletion, click Yes.
    8. Quit Registry Editor, and then restart the computer...'

However at the point 6 there is nothing under that name and no words 'filters' listed in the right section. There are some files there though but didnt know what to delete?
And couldnt find method 2 on this problem you guys solved before.eg 02-May-2007 04:13 AM - Solved: Matshita DVD CDRW Problem. Yellow Exclamation...
    I also did this:
In the device manager there is a yellow triangle with explanation point. I tried uninstalling it, and when it reloaded the drivers it said they didn't install correctly. The listed error in the properties reads ...

"Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)"

I also tried under IDE ATA to find the driver it used. There is 3 there and I dont know which to delete. There is in following order Intel(r)8280 1dm ultra ATA storage..then primary IDE channel and then secondary IDE channel.
Will deleting this and rebooting fix this?

    Please help.

Let's do the fix the easy way.

Download CDgone, right click on the downloaded file and choose Extract All, then double-click on cdgone.reg Say "Yes" to the merge question and then reboot. See if the drives have returned. You may have to re-install CD burning applications, since they're the ones that tinker with the filter setting in the registry that caused the drives to disappear.
