So far I've spent about two weeks now trying to fix this ... If anyone can help me out with this one it would be deeply appreciated.
It has not been -simple- so far ....
When I select the System Information function off of the
accessories\system tools menu I get a window that says "Can't collect information access denied to Windows Management Instrumentation server on this computer. Have an administrator change your access permissions" and it doesn't give me any info on this computer hardware, software or anything for that matter. Everything shows up blank or unknown under System Information.
This is my own Windows XP - Home edition and I always sign on, as far as I know, as an administrator. I've tried about a hundred ways to eliminate that window and have tried everything from changing account permissions after safe booting, tried resetting items in the registry,
tried booting in safe mode and still can't get that System Information function to work without showing that "can't collect information .... etc ..." screen.
I've read other messages from people in the newsgroups who had the this same problem but there has never been any answer to it that did work. (that I saw anyway) I hope that I can find a way to elimate that window from having to re-install XP. Maybe there -was- an answer to that problem listed and I missed it.
It was suggested on another newsgroup that I download a program called AIDA32 which does the same thing as System Information.I downloaded it does work ok, I still miss that System Information function and keep wondering
why I can't get it to work.
Thanks for any help on this.
If you need any more info on this problem let me know. So far I've had no luck trying to solve this one.
I also don't know if one of the other installed programs is causing that window to pop-up.
