I just got a new computer and i want to add my old harddrive from my old computer onto my new computer, its very important that i dont lose any of my files from my old harddrive. I hooked up the harddrive to my computer and the BIOS detected it but when i go to My Computer... it doesnt show up, and when i go to DISK MANAGEMENT, it shows up but wont let me assign it a drive letter or anything, it just shows the a picture of the drive and a caution sign next to it.

If anyone can help, please help me.

This might be a silly question but, do you have the jumper set right?

Do you have a new hard drive in there as well? If so, try changing the positions.

If you see it upon load up then your OS is not seeing it.
    What OS are you running?
What size of hd and make?
Are you putting this on the same IDE as your boot drive? If so you should put it on IDE 2 and make it a master with your rom as the slave.

What file format does the slave drive show in disk management? What Operating system do you have on the primary drive? What is the disk format of the primary drive?
