I am trying to install the upgrade version of Microsoft Office Small Business 2007.
I have an office Suite 2005 Disc.
I was able to successfully install the new office suite on my lap top, but am unable to install it on the other 2 office computers.
Here is whats happaning:
I put in the Upgarde disc and then it asks for the disc of an older office suite. So I put in the old disc, but the computer is unable to read the disc or something because what happens every time is that the computer freazes up and I have to restart the whole system. And it will not install. Is there anything I can do to show that I have on older version of office suite so that I can still install the new version?
please help!
Thank you.

If it won't read the disk there are three things to think of:
1. Copy the disc from a CD burning program, the cd may have one sector the reader doesn't like, a new copy may work if it is an exact mimic.
2. Install 2003 if you have the time to do so on the PC's that need 2007, if you can do this MS 2007 should see that. Or buy or find a version of works would work as well I believe.
3. Call MS, everytime you buy ANY office version I have been for years under the understanding you get 2 FREE help sessions on the phone to solve the problem. This would be if you can't troubleshoot on threads for a while and just want to have it work.
It is highly unlikely as well but the install disk could be damaged and upon it's program looking for the old copy it has an internal screw up. If this was the case a copy of that disk may help as well. Other than that you should try one of the above methods and this problem should resolve itself. I like 2007 once it works.
And unless you are using a non-commercial copy of Home and Student version Office 2007, the installation is limited to 1 license per PC, with a secondary installation on a prrtable PC for use by the primary owner.
Unless you have a "volume licence" arrangement from MS, you will end up locking out at least one version if you install was as your intention.
1. Maybe that older disc was damaged, as djangojazz says? The data can likely be salvaged with this app:
Google and download isobuster.
You might have to make the volume label on the new disc match the original one's...You can also try & burn contents to your hard drive, then point the install routine to that location...
2. And as Kiwiguy says, you'll definitely need a second license....you could download the trial from MS....used to be for one year...??!!??
