I'm running on XP, and I'm trying to install QuickBooks Pro 6.0, which I have installed on this computer before.

I get this message when I click on install.

I click Close, and it closes the message thing, but the program screen thing just sits there. It says 'Installing', but no matter how long I wait, it won't install. It won't go past that install screen.

Does anybody know what the problem could be?

Insert the Windows CD into the CD drive (Stop it if it auto runs)
Click Start, and then click Run.
In the Open box, type cmd, and then click OK.
At the command prompt, type the following commands, pressing ENTER after each command:

Also remember to substitute your CD drive letter in the sections in RED
It is probably easier to copy and paste the commands below remembering to hit enter after each one.

    expand CD-ROM Drive Letter:\i386\config.nt_ c:\windows\system32\config.nt
    expand CD-ROM Drive Letter:\i386\autoexec.nt_ c:\windows\system32\autoexec.nt
    expand CD-ROM Drive Letter:\i386\command.co_ c:\windows\system32\command.com
    exit

If you have followed the above steps, your program should now install ok.

Let us know how you go.

    It worked. :D

Thank you very much. I would have never figured it out myself.
