I downloaded the upgrade and attempted to install it. I got this message:
Setup is unable to shut down the True Vector service. "Install cannot continue without doing so. Please use the Service Manager to shut down the True Vector service." What is True Vector service and how do I access Service Manager?

The True Vector service is a major component of ZoneAlarm. Basically, it's saying you can't upgrade the program while it's in use. The easiest way to access the service manager is to select 'Run' from the start menu, then type 'services.msc' and press enter.
Find any service mentioning ZoneAlarm or True Vector (there may be more than just one) and double click. The service properties will show up and all you have to do is click the Stop button. That will shutdown the service until it's manually restarted or the computer is rebooted.

The best way to install a Zone Alarm upgrade is to first download and save the upgrade to your computer. Now go to the Zone Alarm Overview Preferences panel , uncheck the "Load Zone Alarm at Startup" box, reboot, and now run the installer. It is always best to select the 'clean' install option when it asks.

If you already tried to install an upgrade, then also delete your temp files and empty your recycle bin first before you try again.
