About a year ago i started getting annoying messages on all my browsers(safari, internet explorer, opera, firefox) that they cant load the page. Although my computer was connected to the internet and msn, aim e.t.c seemed to work fine. And every time i get this i have to go and restart the wireless modem to manage to access any sites before the same problem starts again after 1-2 hours. Also when i formatted my laptop this problem disappeared for 2-3 months.

    Please help me!

Can you check your proxy configuration? Possibly make 'auto-detect proxy setting' the default, of use your own details if you own a proxy server. Just make sure it's all correct - otherwise you will continue experiencing problems.

Depends on the browser you're using - but in Firefox go to Tools -> Options then see the attachment for more details. You can choose auto, or fill it out manually.

... Or you could just use no proxy and connect directly to the internet that way. :)

    Try these simple tests.

Hold the Windows key and press R, then type CMD (COMMAND for W98/WME) to open a command prompt:

In the command prompt window that opens, type type the following commands one at a time, followed by the Enter key:

NOTE: For the items below in red surrounded with < >, see comments below for the actual information content, they are value substitutions from the previous IPCONFIG command output! Do NOT type <computer_IP_address> into the command, that won't work. Also, the < and > in the text is to identify the parameters, they are also NOT used in the actual commands.

Do NOT include the <> either, they're just to identify the values for substitution.

    IPCONFIG /ALL

    PING <computer_IP_address>

    PING <default_gateway_address>

    PING <dns_servers>

    PING 74.125.45.100

    PING yahoo.com

Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter to copy the contents to the clipboard.
Paste the results in a message here.

<computer_IP_address> - The IP Address of your computer, obtained from the IPCONFIG command above. (For Vista/Win7, the IPv4 Address)

<default_gateway_address> - The IP address of the Default Gateway, obtained from the IPCONFIG command above.

<dns_servers> - The IP address of the first (or only) address for DNS Servers, obtained from the IPCONFIG command above.

If you are on a machine with no network connection, use a floppy, USB disk, or a CD-RW disk to transfer a text file with the information to allow pasting it here.

No please go back and put a PING and a space in front of all those unrecognized commands so they'll actually work. :)

Well, if that's after the computer has the problem loading pages, it's not a network issue. You appear to have a normally working network there.

I'd be doing malware scans at this point first.

Well, it's kinda' like we're starting over.

Do the ping tests I posted previously again, let's see where we stand.

I'm at a loss. If this continued after a total rebuild of Windows, I'd have to consider a hardware issue. However, the indications are that the hardware is working fine from what you've posted.

Don't know what to tell you...
