Hi all - have not been in for a while!

Here is my problem - when I enter the control panel to add/remove programs, the list pouplates but I am unable to change or remove programs as the change or remove tabs are completely missing. All it shows is size and used (how often) info. Most of the programs don't even show this info until I click on them, but again, no change or remove tabs are there. Can anyone help here?

Additionally, it appears that a lot of uninstallers are missing from my start menu apps...

    Please do the following:

    • Save HJTsetup.exe to your desktop.
    • Double click on the HJTsetup.exe icon on your desktop.
    • By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Hijack This.
    • Continue to click Next in the setup dialogue boxes until you get to the Select Addition Tasks dialogue.
    • Put a check by Create a desktop icon then click Next again.
    • Continue to follow the rest of the prompts from there.
    • At the final dialogue box click Finish and it will launch Hijack This.
    • Click on the Do a system scan and save a log file button. It will scan and then ask you to save the log.
    • Click Save to save the log file and then the log will open in notepad.
    • Click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" to copy the entire contents of the log.
    • Come back here to this thread and Paste the log in your next reply.
    • DO NOT have Hijack This fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.

Sounds like you may have used a "Cleanup" programme that deleted the uninstall logs. Have you used "RegSeeker" - if so download and run the FixAddRemove.reg on the link below -

    http://www.hoverdesk.net/freeware.htm

If none of this applies proceed with the HJT log as instructed.

    No, not previously.

Still stumped on this one! This computer has only been running for about 5 weeks - could I have done something wrong when I installed these apps? Of the 70 programs I have listed, only 5 show the remove/change tab, so this appears to be a pretty recent problem. Additionally I'm not familiar with several of them. I noticed that some of the newer installed apps do have the remove/change tab (Hijack This for example). An example of what does not have the tabs is Call Of Duty which I installed during the initial setup, but I have the uninstall option on the start menu.

Open Hijack This and click on the "Open the Misc Tools Section" button. Click on the "Open Uninstall Manager" button. Click the "Save List" botton. Copy and paste that list here please.

That is odd. Let's try this one:

    Open HijackThis.
Click on Open Misc Tools Section
Make sure that both boxes beside "Generate StartupList Log" are checked:
    • List all minor sections(Full)
    • List Empty Sections(Complete)
    Click Generate StartupList Log.
    Click Yes at the prompt.
It will open a text file. Please copy the entire contents of that page and paste it here.

I see one file in that log that's usually associated with a LOP infection. If it is, this on-line scan should reveal any other files.

Panda Active Scan. Be sure to save the log it creates and post it here.
