Hi. I have looked for my problem in all the threads & I could find an answer that seemed to apply. I am running Vista 64 bit. I use Internet Explorer as my browser. Very often, I cannot open pdf, jpeg or gif attachments. When I click on the attachent to open it, the little image opens up that has the files flying through the air to its new location (you know what I mean...!). And then, it just keeps doing that and the file never opens up. I have already gone in and associated those files with the appropriate programs. I do have Adobe Reader 8. Some help would be GREATLY appreciated.

    Many thanks.

    What email provider/mail client?

On those problem attachments, (pdf, for example) can you
save them to your hard drive and then go to Adobe Reader
and navigate to where you saved it and open it that way?

Same for jpg and gif - save/navigate from IE7 and try opening.

If not, it is possible the files are corrupt.

    Thanks.

How do you get your email? Is it webmail (like Hotmail, Yahoo!)?
Or do you have POP3 (like using Windows Mail or MS Outlook
    to get your emails)?

When you attempt to open the PDF file and it continues looking
for a way to open it, is there ever an error message? If so post
    the whole thing here.

You can't save the files to your hard drive? Do you get an error
message when you attempt to do that?

    I use hotmail.

there is never an error message. the box opens that makes it seems like it is transfering the file-the globe with the files floating over to the file folder-but it just keeps on going and doesn't stop.

I don't use Hotmail, so am not familiar with details.
You can't right click and choose save as... from
the IE context menu? Some webmail have other
buttons to click to save attachments.

Were you able to save attachments previously
    with Hotmail (on other computers)?
