I have an Acer laptop with Microsoft 8. 64bit. Every time I am updated to 8.1 I cannot get anything from my documents to print on my Lexmark X2690. So, I have to reinstate my previous Microsoft 8. then I can print. What is the problem? I suspect it is a driver problem, if so can I get the correct driver free? So far I am only finding websites that want money for an upgrade to the potentially correct driver BUT I do object to this as it isn't my fault that Microsoft have decided to issue 8.1 and make it incompatible with my printer. I am also still a beginner in the technical aspects and 72 years of age with not too much pension to make go round. Any help would be greatly appreciated, even bad news would at least let me know where I stand.
    Thanks

The cj2600en64.exe software driver file for it is for Windows XP/Vista/7/8 64-bit, but Windows 8.1 64-bit isn't mentioned.

What printer driver is installed for Windows 8?

If the driver installed after the upgrade to 8.1 is different then install the driver that Windows 8 was using.
