I often frequent this website http://country.totaltabs.com/main.asp I log on with my user name and the site seems to accept it (it tells me when my last visit was etc) but it always shows me as logged in as guest. You can't view any of the tabs unless you are logged in. The site has lots of pop ups and my popblocker works to stop them. I think this problem started when I downloaded anti-spyware programs. I am running ad-aware, spy-bot (with teatimer on), spyware guard, spyware blaster and MS Beta 1. I hope its not a haven for spyware so I can return to the site as it is about the best tab site around. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.

If there are that many pop ups is the site really worth going to in the first place? Seems like they are being blocked for a reason and it is probabaly also blocking the cookie the site is trying to write to your hard drive.

Thanks for the response Rockn. Being a musician I am sometimes asked and expected to learn songs in a hurry. Sometimes I just don't have enough time to learn them from scratch. Country tabs is the best tab site out there and sometimes I use it to get a head start on a song. You can pay a few cents a day and it says you can get rid of the popups plus get a lot of perks. If I upgraded my membership to a premium one do you think it would let me log on? It used to let me logon but one day it just stopped.

The culprit could be Spybot's Immunisation settings. If you have immunised your system Spybot could be blocking something that is required to enable you to log on. If not that then another setting in Spybot (I don't have it installed at the moment so am unable to have a look).

Also, have you tried using another browser with that site? Opera blocks popups by default and an adblock extension can be added to Firefox, both of which could replace your other adblocking programs.

Thanks Topazz. I checked out the unimmunize but it restores all bad products. Would it be ok to unimmunize and then check out the website and then return to Spybot and immunize all bad products again? The have no other browser other than IE and MSN Explorer which if understand correctly uses IE to operate and I have always felt that I should take it out. Do these other browsers take up much space. Will they slow my computer down?

That is what I thought would be a good idea to do, but you do risk the chance that the website may sneak some undesirables onto your computer so you will have to decide whether you want to take that risk.

The risk will be reduced by using an alternative browser, which was why I suggested that. If you do decide to try it I would recommend running Spybot after visiting the site and it wouldn't hurt to run Ad-aware as well.

My Opera browser is taking up approx. 28MB at the moment and it most certainly does not slow my computer down. If your computer is not a fast machine it will take a bit longer to load than Internet Explorer but it will be noticeably faster at browsing the internet than IE as well as being a bit more secure.
