    Hi!

I have an old sound blaster live de 5.1 pci, and I am not being able to install successfully.

First is that xp will not detect the card, I have disabled the onboard thru bios.Once the drivers install successfully On boot up I get an error Devcon32.dll cannot be found and I get a yellow exclamation mark on audio device in high definition audio bus.

I have an gigabyte Ep45 ud 3l, kindly let me know if I should stick to my onboard or is this card better.

    wtxcowboy,

sorry for the late reply, i was traveling and what not !

Anyway the link you gave me is very helpful and i will certainly try it over the week end.

I am really keen to use a pci sound card instead of onboard.

That sound card is about 10 years old. To my knowledge, it only has drivers for Windows 95, 98, and ME.

Actually the installation cd that I have clearly specifies support for xp. Could it be a service pack conflict ?
