I recently re-installed Windows 10 on my computer since it was running slow. When I loaded back into Windows, everything was working properly except the sound on my device. I looked a the device manager and the IDT High Definition Audio CODEC had a yellow exclamation point next to it. I tried to auto install it, but an error occurred. I then went and right clicked on the speaker icon, went to playback devices, and then saw that the AMD HDMI Output was "not plugged in," even though it was. I thought maybe my speakers got damaged, but I plugged them into my TV and they worked fine. I am lost as to what I can do to resolve my audio issues
Seems you need to install the correct driver for the sound card, the IDT one, that's the sound card for traditional analog speakers. You should be able to download the driver from the computer manufacturer's website. The other HDMI device would be if you wanted to use speakers built in your monitor or TV.
I tried that, but I kept getting an error, I think due to the fact that my comp wasn't "connecting" (even though all was plugged in right) to my audio device.
the error I get when installing the driver is "windows found driver software for your device but encountered an error while attempting to install it." " A device attached to the system is not functioning."
Flavallee - I tired to download the audio driver from the site that you posted, but I got an error message saying, "Your System does not meet the operating system requirements. Update has been cancelled."
Before I reloaded Windows 10, my sound was working fine. When I first installed windows 10 from the free update, I did not have to change any of my system settings or drivers. So I am kind of confused as to what to do now. Any other suggestions?
BTW, when I plug in my gaming headphones, the sound works on them. I know my speaker cables work fine, I tried to use them on my TV and it worked. I don't think that anything got damaged in my system reboot, but I really a, lost ATM as to what I should do regarding the sound on my computer. its nice to have sound through my headphones, but it would be nice to be able to watch a movie and be able to sit on my couch to do so, rather than being tethered to my headphones.
There were problems installing some updates, but we'll try again later. If you keep seeing this and want to search the web or contact support for information, this may help:
