Following is the config of my machine
    Intel 845 Motherboard, P IV 1.5 GHz, 128 MB RAM, DirectX 8.1, Win 98SE.

The problem is with Microsoft Age of Empires II - The Age of Kings.

I can properly play Regicide and Death Match. But whenever I start a campaign, it immediately tells me that "You have been defeated" - even before I move a single unit.

Any idea why is this happening? Earlier, I could play these campaigns, but now I can't. :(.

It could be that the game thinks that it is a pirated version (Red Alert 2 does this to me now & then.) Just try re-installing the game. Or get the latest updates.

Thanks. I will try that. The link seems to be useful.

Something quite similar happens to me whenever I play on the hard level against 7 computer players with no allies :p
