I did a scan with chkdsk a lot of problems came up with something to do with bad sectors or something. I couldn't tell exactly what it said because it was moving too fast. But after it finished and windows booted up my wallpaper showed up but the desktop icons and the taskbar didn't show up. Right-clicking didn't work either. I rebooted and chkdsk came up again but i aborted it. Same thing happened when windows booted up. I booted it up using the last known good configuration and now it's working. Any ideas what might have happened?

I use windows XP with service pack 2 on an HP Pavilion zv5405us laptop.
