I am running Windows XP Media Edition and have not experienced this problem before. When I start my computer, it appears to be proceeding normally, but when it gets to the point where the desktop is supposed to be displayed it does one of two things.

    1. Usually, the desktop will appear as it normally does upon startup, but after about 5 seconds, it disappears and all that is left is a blue screen. And then about 2 seconds later, the desktop reappears for 5 seconds, then the blue screen appears for 2, etc. <it just keeps cycling through and if I want to run a program, I have to click on it before the desktop disappears.

    2. Sometimes, the desktop disappears and the blue screen stays on all the time. In that case, I have to right click to get the task manager to appear and then find and run the program that way.

It seems that my computer gets in a cycle and I would like to find a way to get it corrected. Thanks for any help or information.
