problem with Direct TV Receivers

I have an annoying problem with all (three) direct tv receivers. Channels change by themselves sporadically. I called Direct Tv Tech support and they suggest I but new receivers. 3 @49.99 plus S&H. I think its ridiculous!
Any other suggestions out there?

Call them again, ask for someone competent

It's probably some form of interference, which the receiver is reading like a signal from a remote.

Direct TV can be difficult at times.

I would call my local station and tell THEM I want to watch your channel but can't.

Usually there is a engineer or two that can help.

At least you'll get a 2nd opinion

Check to be sure your wife doesn't have a second remote control

Not to mention, you can get receivers at any flea market for about $10 each.
