    Hi.

I recently repaired my Windows xp sp2 installation.

On clicking the Google Chrome icon, I got the following error message:

"Your profile could not be opened correctly.
Some features may be unavailable. Please check that the profile exists and you have permission to read and write it's contents"

I tried a suggestion, about making a "Backup Folder" and Google opens without the above error message.

Only trouble is, while the google page does open, my "Bookmarks" are blank; they are not there.

Also, it does not remember any of my passwords for the sites I used to log into and for which the passwords were saved by Google Chrome.

Could you please suggest a remedy?

    With thanks,

I think uninstall Chrome and then install it again should help you in that matter, because this message you mentioned is shown when the installation was interrupted.
Another idea for u - if you're not the administrator of the computer try the special Chrome version for "standard users"

    Good luck! :)

    Hi BLucy,

    Thanks for your post.

I am the administrator of the computer which is at home and only I use it.

Would I loose all the passwords and settings if I uninstall Chrome?

    Do let me know.

    With thanks,

I don't know if these can help, but can you try opening Chrome and then fire up task manager? How many chrome.exe do you see?

    Hi,

Thanks for your post; I see 7 processes.

Yesterday, I un-installed Chrome and later installed a fresh download, into the same folder in "C" drive.

I got my bookmarks from IE8, where I had some common bookmarks with Chrome.

It's working well; only thing is, I do not have access to my passwords anymore.

I thought the bookmarks (earlier exported to IE8) would have the passwords too.

Is there anyway I can retrieve the passwords?

    Thanks.

Was Chrome synced with your google account (mail)?
If so, try to log in with your google account, it maybe saved your passwords, although im not sure.....
    Worth to try ;)

Don't use your web browser to store passwords. Use a secure password storage program like KeePass or LastPass.

    Thanks for your posts friends.

I will try KeePass/ LastPass as well.

I too feel it may be better to have my passwords in a safer place.
